8890 screen not working

Hello, I need help diagnosing my screen problem. My computer boots up fine, but the screen stays blank. Does anyone know how to check to see if the connection to the gpu is unplugged, or if something else is unplugged? Thanks

EDIT: I just noticed that its not completetly blank; just very, very dark. I have to shine a flashlight on it to see anything.

After searching the forum, I found out that it could be the backlight. Is the backlight not the inverter? If not, what exactly is the backlight and where is it?

I took the top cover of the screen off to check the inverter, and found some burnt residue on the center of the board (see pic). So, is that my problem? Should I check the backlight too (assuming it is checkable)?

Thanks

The back light is usually on the top and behind (inside the panel) the LCD. You might luck out with just a bad inverter. Check the cables for sure as well.

cheers ...
