Take the i7 with better graphic card.

The i7 is a significantly better processor, and as Q said the video card is better on the i7 unit. Definitely get the one with the i7.

I'm tryin to get one with a blu-ray burner. but you guys are right. Thanks. one more question. internal blu-ray slot burner for laptop or external? i just bought a new hp dvd1170 external. lol...

I am old fashioned, still owning an external blu-ray for the notebooks (and a player of course) Slot is always nice and cool.

I always like HP. Others might feel differently, but then we are all like that sometimes with different brands. Then again HP is not number 1 at the moment for no reasons.

I unlike Qhn, have had to repair more problems with HP laptops than I care to count. Now keep in mind that these are business-centric models, and low-end business machines at that: The Gov't won't spend a penny more than they have to for computers, yet they'll spend $900 on a 'left-handed' hammer.

Ooh, can I have one of those left handed hammers? I've been having a ton of problems with those hammers for righties.

See? What can I tell you.

According to http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-...ist.844.0.html the 230m is only a tiny bit better than the 130m. But the i7 just rapes all previous generations of processors even @ the same clock frequencies. You asked about internal vs external bluray...go external then you can use it on other computers if you need to. But keep in mind both of these laptops will get dick battery life without a 12 cell battery...and probably be heavy as hell to boot.

Yea I love buying a product for $2 less than I could of bought from the MFG. Then arrange 3rd party warranty support. Forget tech support. Yea over all you saved. Enjoy your wise decision. Cheap gets you all cheap? Some of you guys would not buy your dying mother a $1 cup of coffee. Cause you can get for $.80 down the street? Way to go!

Oh and anyone who knows will tell you HP's run hot and fail just out of warranty.

If this is any help, I was told when I bought my AW m5500 that it was going to fail right out of the box. Here it is almost 4 years later and it's still running.

True, I have had some bad experiences w/ HP but they've been work computers/servers for the DoD. I've never had an HP of my own however...

Don't let pp and MB scare you out of wits. My family owns and uses many HP and they are still performing perfectly and well.

If HP is so bad, they would not be number #1 for nothing, correct?

By the way, AF just invested in HP notebooks for its personel, at least in Lackland anyway

cheers ...

pp is an ass sometimes. Trust me I know him. I think maybe he does not understand buying on ebay. And yes HP's can run hot but you can stay on top of that. Don't worry pp sometimes speaks without pulling his foot out of his mouth.

There are always going to be variations in reliability according to model and specific computer. While brand reliability is something to look at before you buy a computer, it's not worth thinking about after you buy. Just make the best of what you've got and treat it well!
