Inspiron 6000 Wont turn on

I came home lastnight to my laptop turn off. I thought this was odd because it is hardly ever turned off. When I went to turn it back on nothing happened. I then notice that the gree light on the charger was also off. So I unplugged the charger from the wall and the computer, then plugged it back into the outlet. Now the green light is on, however when i plug it into the laptop the green light turns off and I have nothing from the computer. Seems like I have an electrical problem here. Anyone heard of this happening before or have any advice. The computer is about 5years old so I no longer have a warrenty.

It is most likely a motherboard problem.

just had the same problem with one of my laptops.

you can try another charger, but if your battery is charged and it will not boot up it points to a main board issue.

Try booting up with no battery as well, just the ac?

cheers ...

I have tried to boot up with out a battery and just the ac as well as no ac and just the battery... still nothing happens. If it is a motherboard issue is it worth getting it replaced or just getting a new computer.

I have this exact same problem with my Inspiron. You can check the specs in my signature.

When I unplugged the cord off the lappy, the green light (charger) turns on, but as soon as I plug it to the laptop, it turns off.

The thing won't turn on, seems like it doesnt have any electricity at all.

tuck what did you did?

I still need to fix both systems in my signature tho. Both stop working and it seems that both have problems with the mobo. The XPS stop working with 5 years of use and 1505 with 4. Im working on recovering the DATA on their HDDs, do I need some kind of driver if I use a convertor or laptop kit to connect the laptop's hdd to a desktop or is as simple as plug & play?

Get yourself an USB external housing for 2.5" drive. The rest is plug and play.

cheers ...
