Lemote Open-Source-Netbook with Android and Loongson-CPU

Quote:
The Korean hardware vendor Lemote presented its Yeeloong, claiming the first netbook ever, in which open source from BIOS to OS can be implemented.

It is already unusual to have this fitted with the Chinese Loongson 2F processor and a non-x86-compatible MIPS-chip with 800 MHz.

The Yeeloong Lemote will be produced by Quanta, the largest laptop manufacturer anywhere in the world. The technical basis should therefore be of high quality. Through the use of free software in the BIOS, the kernel and all drivers, the netbook should be "hacker-friendly."

System comes with an 8.9" display with 1024×600 resolution, packed with 512 or 1024 MB of RAM and a 160-gigabyte hard drive, or 2 or 8 GB SSDs.

The great freedom is not cheap, however. The Dutch Tekmote already prices the device at 335-340 Euro.
