Many like to say the bus is somehow critical, almost magical? It is not and the 5870 basically proves it. The bus is just a means to an end same as clocks are. I think a lot of people that I have read need to rethink their common sense. And these are not people on this site per se.
The best analogy I've heard (and I like analogies) is a highway: the number of shader cores represent how many vehicles are on the highway, the core and memory speeds represent how fast vehicles on the highway can travel, the type of memory (DDR2, GDDR3, or GDDR5) determines how much stuff (in this case, information) each vehicle can carry, and the memory bus (32, 64, 128, 256, 384, or 512 bit) determines how many lanes there are on the highway. The goal is to get as much information sent as fast as possible, and each factor influences the goal.

edit: I forgot the memory amount. I would liken that to the loading/unloading zones where information is loaded onto and unloaded from the vehicles at each end of the highway.

Your analogy is good except you counted memory clocks twice then wanted to add amount of memory? Too much.

SP's and core are the amount of vehicles on the road. Memory clocks are how fast they go. Latency are toll booths. No reason to concern with the type as the last statement already 100% takes that into consideration. And finally the bus is the number of lanes?

One reason I say this and agree with Djembe is I can increase core clocks and that has zero affects on bandwidth?

correct. clocks have to do with thoroughput, not bandwidth. bandwidth has to do with maximum possible, thoroughput has to do with actual data (as I see it).

I had the chance to play with the G72 model a few days back, which allows me to gauge on what the G73 gonna be like. If anything that can be said, and not hiccup with the roll-out of the few first machines, I personally believe that ASUS has a winner here!

And by hiccup, I mean BIOS issue. And my concern of an 920M in combination with the HD5870.

cheers ...

I want 3DMark06 numbers. Yea the numbers do look good. I think they have a winner.

I must find out if those temps are stock TC?

With 920XM IC Diamond, 2x160GB SSD's only $3735.

The G51JX-3D has 120Hz screen and 3D.

It varies. Availability (in the US at least) is based on how many Asus' US headquarters ordered from Taiwan. With some models, they order a lot for the first run, and for others that they're not as sure will sell, they don't order as many and see how quickly they sell before ordering more.
