I fear the worst but thought I would check, I tend to monitor my gpu temp daily and have noticed no issues , however not checked since friday and checked tonight and disaster speedfan, nvidia driver , device manager and bios are now only listing a single GPU , is it the end or have I missed something????

By the way I have a M1730 8700M sli

I guess the question is do I invest any more money in this machine (i.e. buy a replacement card you can get them on ebay I notice but approx £500 for a 8800M)

or just live with it as is and run it into the ground

That M1730 is always a good performer. I personally would hold on to it and wait for a better price on the GPU. Or save the money for a new comp eventually.
