Various technical trouble with m17x

Heya peeps,

Posting my troubles here in the hope that someone recognizes the problem and knows of a potential solution.

I've browsed through quite a lot of google pages without any success.

After first receiving my new alienware machine I ran into a bunch of technical trouble, which started off with my machine randomly freezing for 5-10 mins, with the hard drive simply "shutting down."

The error was:
Event ID 129 - Reset to device \Device\RaidPort0 was issued.

Dell replaced the logicboard, but turns out that it had nothing to do with the logicboard.

After some research the issue was caused by the nvidia 64 bit driver called: nvstor64.

When installing the chipset driver for nvidia it also installed a nvidia Satadriver (nvstor64) which was the cause of the machine freezing.

Once resolved I noticed another problem.
Tabbing windows and preview from the taskbar doesn't work. When ever I tab, the tab shows up for a splitt second and then vanishes again, and the same happens when using preview.

Upon closer inspection it turns out that a command is being spammed on the machine, but I have no idea why and which one.

When attempting to keybind any key in any game the result always becomes either "[]" or "118".

Has anyone seen this issue before, where every bind becomes either "[]" or "118" ?

Also, I've installed a pure windows 7 version (the one which came with the machine), on a pure windows 7, the issue does not occur, but if I do use the pure version several other things happen, such as:

Command senter fusion / sense no longer works,
missing drivers for microphone and integrated webcam (Their not on the dell / alienware page) and various other driver issues.

Lastly when using the Win 7 pure install disk, I also ofc loose all the nice alienware backgrounds / pics, which I would like to keep.

Any information, possible solutions or other would be greatly appreciated.

PS: I have tested using "Virtual Keyboard" to check for stuck keys, or other, but there was no visual indication that any key was "stuck"

Have you had a chance to browse through this section on the m17x? We have many inputs regarding touchpad, keyboard and W7 issues.

cheers ...

I've been browing for quite a bit here as well, but I can't really seem to find any similar issue.

If anyone knows of a potential thread to browse or a keyword which might bring up a match lemme know

You might have to settle first for main keyword like keyboard, OEM applications ...

m17x is still new and most of the issues are quite personal, yours will be added to this

I don't truly understand this completely but would it be useful to use an external keyboard for diagnostic? My thought is if external works fine. You have a bad driver or more likely a bad keyboard. Wild guesses on my part take as you will.

there is a Win 7 patch on Alinewares site for some of these issues.

Some talk has indicated using older GPU drivers. 186 I believe.

I also found I had to use the Chipset drivers the Win 7 default ones do not work properly.

Dell does list a Win 7 chipset driver, also try the Vista 64 bit Chipset drivers
