M1710 Grey Screen - Page 2

One point to OP that I don't know the answer but suspect. Not really a downside to baking if done correctly, meaning if it does not fix as was not the issue does not cause further damage. But once again please wait for someone to confirm as I have no hands on experience just from reading.

I have not experienced of "baking" causing "other"/"further" damage, yet. Damage happens mostly when one does not disassemble the notebook correctly, breaking other stuffs on the way.

That is a million $ question - it varies with luck. The ones I baked are still going after 10 months, but I don't push them anymore like I used to.

mine failed 3.5 months after oven baking but thats under pretty heavy use played lots of game and cad/cam software i guess it could have easly done 10months just playing movie and going on the web, but this is not definitive as it will vary i would say by about 20% from user to user, but 10 month is a pretty good result

Actually I throttle the display properties down to low or medium resolution also. And this would stretch the usage out a bit more. Eventually the comps would be only good for parts.

Guys are we seeing any kind of pattern? Of what fails say by brand or model? A year and a half ago I would of said 8xxxm? But ataxy baked a 7950? Is it just Nvidia?
I doubt that it is just nVidia since I baked a few ATI myself.

cheers ...
