just purchased this off ebay.

Specifications
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo, 2x 2.33GHz
Hard Disk: 160GB
RAM: 2GB
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce Go 7950GTX 512 MB

i know its a old unit now, but i hoping it performs better then what i have, otherwise ive just wasted 350 notes.

heres my old laptop

System Model HP Pavilion dv9500 Notebook PC
Processor AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55, 1800 Mhz, NVIDIA GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M

ive not received my rock yet but im excited to see what this old girl can do.

i do have some questions about ram.

the rock comes with 2gb - from what ive read the max is 3gb for this lappy.

so would i be best leaving it with 2gb (duel channel?) or moving to 3gb?

also i own 4gb of kingson hyperX ram pc2-5300 cl4-200 should i use this? will the laptop use it?

ram spec
KHX5300S2LLK2/4G 4GB 667MHz Low-Latency DDR2 CL4
(Kit of 2 - 2GB) 4-4-4-12 1.8v

yes, your Kingston memory should work fine. Your system won't actually be able to use it all due to 32-bit operating system restrictions, but it should install and run fine.

should i change the operating system? oh btw - i believe the laptop is a rebranded clevo M570U

It would most likely be more of a hassle than it's worth to find 64-bit drivers for your system. If you install the new memory and keep your current OS, you'll still be able to use around 3.25 GB of memory, just not the whole 4 GB.

If you put 4GB in it will use what it can in dual channel even if only 3GB to 3.25GB. So yea I would do it. And as said I would not bother switching to 64bit unless you have a real need?
