Apple Registration and warranty

Hi,

I have a macbook that was purchased by a friend who works at Apple. It was purchased in his name, I want to buy the apple care for the machine, IF I change the registration details will I still be able to buy the apple care ?

The 1 year warranty finishes in May.

I don't believe that the Apple warranty can be transferred. I could be wrong.

It doesn't matter who purchased the computer, just who registers it. And if you get AppleCare you have to register that so it should change who the computer is registered to as well assuming he gave it to you used.
