Out of the loop. Need a new laptop or video card!

Hey all, Im out of the loop on current laptops as the last laptop I bought was an Inspiron 9400/E1705. Unfortunately the video card just died (Nvidia Geforce 7900 GS Go) and its gonna cost alot to replace it with an equivalent card.

Just curious as to what the cheapest gaming laptop options are? If not a gaming laptop, a laptop that can at least run games on a medium setting. Did the Latitude series replace the Inspiron series? I just dont want to spend $1000. Any suggestions would be great.

Also, if I wanted to replace the Geforce 7900 card, what would be my best options that dont cost $400? Are there any? Just not sure if its worth it to replace the card or just go with a whole new system. Thanks for the help.

Inspiron's are gone no the Latitude is business. The Studio I guess replaced the Inspiron. But there are Studio XPS and yes those are a little more performance driven. DeLL no longer has a DeLL pure gaming system as they bought AlienWare and don't seem to want to compete against themselves.

Current cards that are around the 7900m GS are HD3650, 9500m GS. This Asus should do the trick and under $1000, link. There are others look around the site. More gaming options than DeLL.

I think you should get a new notebook not repair the old. This time the GPU what next? And I think you will be getting a very substantial CPU boost.

Search for the 7900GS Bake guide if your looking for a cheap (but not ez) way out of buying a new card.
