Recommendations for a new laptop...help needed!! - Page 2

1, 6 or 7.

With #7 you might need to configure it with better CPU and GPU. SO I don't know what the difference in price will be.

Even though #6 offers a HD GPU, sadly it is based on DDR3 instead of the DDR5 that would make the GPU truly performs in its capability.

So ... back to square 1 - take the #1

cheers ...

Yep - I'd stick with the (personal) ASUS recommendation.

sir if you dont mind, can you let me know why you chose this model over the others?

Im not really going to use the laptop for games. Mostly office apps, music, HD movies so mostly for entertainment purposes.

Thanks!

Same reasons as stated in post #21 above. Specs wise comparison, and your preference of 15"-16" screen size. Now if you give us the cost of 3 three than we can add that to the equation.

Nice. More than a few good reasons to go for the ASUS. You are not missing out in any "new" technology like core-i3 or core-i5 or the HD cards (in these HP/Acer models).

Is that so sir? Some people on other forums are suggesting I go for the i3 or i5s because of the core 2 duo being phased out...

what do you think about this model sir??

Lenovo Y550 - Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz, 15.6 WLED 1366x768 Display, 4GB DDR3, 320GB HDD, nVidia G210M, DVDRW, 6-cell, Win 7 Home Premium

Every CPU has its own life cycle. core-i3 and core-i5 will have their own, eventually. The question is the performance of the latest and coolest vs the one that is about to retire (?)

Lots of Pentium out there are still screaming performance

Lenovo is good, very good. How much is that one comparing to the ASUS model that you mentioned?

guys, how about the asus ul50vt??
It's decent for a thin and light, but I'd wait for the Core i7 refresh (UL50Jt). I know Asus is coming out with refreshes for the UL30 & UL80, so I would guess that they're coming out with a UL50 refresh as well.

They are impressive sounding machines. I'm at a crossroads as to whether I want the UL30Jt or the m11x.
