I was told my order will be part of the February 17th shipment coming in. I should have one of the first A1 models. People are getting the A2 model right now.

There is no difference between A1 and A2 models other than the stock Blu-Ray optical drive. A1 has it, and A2 no (can be upgraded though). They are exact the same machine, apart from that.

cheers ...

This the ASUS your referring to here ?

Over clocking is limited because the CPU starts throttling back. They added over-volting in the bios but it's totally useless because the system is unstable if you try it.

My pre-order for the Asus G73 is back on and I have a replacement M17xR2 on the way. I will send both of my AW systems back if the problem exists with the replacement.

Seems the issues are limited to the 920 CPU

Still looks like a lack of power, but geez carrying a 300 watt brick around lol

I'm not 100% sure. It could also be an issue with the system board, gpu or another piece of hardware (like the accelerometer). I'll know more when I get my replacement.

When is your replacement expected NW?

Supposed to come next week.

Would be interesting if they ever offer this system with dual 280's or 285's just to see if it is more or less prone to power shortfalls. Of course that is down the road, but right now we have limited points of comparison.

I was not sure the R2 system board supported SLI ?
I doubt that it would, considering it is being seen as a revised (fixed) model from many.

If they gave me the "option" to get 280s I would immediately return it.

Well SLI on the X58 chipsets (meaning high end desktop, much like the PM55 is high end mobile) is on nearly all mobos. So it's certainly "possible". I'll add to that weight just what a fool Nvidia would look like if they were to wager single GPU's as their highest mobile performance, while AMD touted CF 5870's. DX11 issues notwithstanding it wouldn't even be a fair fight. It's not that single cards aren't nice in some ways, but when it comes to top performance, don't bring a knife to a gun fight

May I add that while only single gpu equipped, the M6500 seems to be having none of these issues, and it is based on much the same chipset, Intel made mobo, and a Nvidia gpu. Of course there is a price difference, but it's curious nonetheless.

I do not have any issues with the system when crossfire is off.
