I only have limited details but if you like to benchmark it will be a must have.

I want that one I can't wait for it though. I am ready to order as soon as the dual 5870s are available. Much more of a delay and it will be the 8760.

yea, I'm also in the market for a new gaming laptop. My m15x is getting old. I'd like to last till sandy bridge, but I'm definitely tempted to buy dual 5870s.. Another thing that worries me is stuff like "Onlive" aka cloud gaming, which doesn't require a 4k system..

Looks like end of April now....can you still hold off?

How sure are you of this? If it's true then I'll be holding off ordering a M17x with xfire 4870's till then. I'm kind of worried about ordering one and by the time it's delivered the dual 5870's are out!

i hope to god the dual 5870s are problem free.

The only problem I'm expecting is with maybe bad initial drivers and also BIOS conflicts. With Ati's track record of shoddy drivers for card releases I hope it ain't so!

I give it 10% chance that everything works flawlessly

Way to think optimistic. :P

haha just being realistic
Well the ATI cards weren't the problem with the M17x, it's the nvidia cards I worry about.

Meh, I just play RTS games these days and I'm not much of a benchmark user, so I'll settle with my R2, Love it, I'll write a review for it shortly.

The original launch was supposed to happen end of March. They pushed it back to end of April. Nothing is a guaranty.

Yes I can

With the back-orders now, I wouldn't get the M17X for a month anyway.

Another interesting fact is weather or not xfire will be available even through AW seeing as all the chipsets I've seen so far lack xfire connector pins.

After all the talking I did about waiting I went ahead and ordered. I had a coupon that was expiring soon and didn't want to waste it. I know my contacts at Dell will hook me up with 5870s when the time comes.

They will be xfire. That I am 100% sure of considering I've already seen the benchmarks.

NWGuru, let's hear about that very special laptop you mentioned earlier.. is it worth skipping 5870s and waiting for that instead?

Yes but no real time table on it. Earliest I believe will be Fall.

There's always going to be something better that's coming out on the Horizon, I've pretty much gotten use to that. That's why I take hiatuses from these boards. When I'm about to buy something I come on actively and when I get my new PC I'll go away and come back when it's that time to get a new PC again.
