Upgrading FX2700m to FX3700m

Hello.
Long time no post here.

I just got an M6400 with an FX2700M and got a spare FX3700M from a friend.I am wondering if the swap is a straight one or would I need any extra parts or new Ac adapter?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

Many.

I don't realize that a faster GPU would require a different ac adapter. Not sure about the "extra" part that you mentioned.

cheers ...

I think all precisions get the highest powered AC adapter so you shouldn't need a new adapter. Your adapter now should be like 210 W or more (I can't remember).

It should just be a straightforward removal of one card and insertion of another. The most you may need to do is reinstall your video card drivers.

Thanks to both of you for the quick answer.
I just checked over Ebay and found out that the CPU heatsink apparently is diferent for either graphic card.
Do you know what is the part number for the CPU heatsink on the M6400.?

Thanks

3700M is a dual pipe design with a substantial heatsink, see this picture

2700M has a similar fan placement but I don't know if it has a dual pipe
