^^ Apple has released a patch that removes DigiNotar from the list of trusted root certificates, the list of Extended Validation certificate authorities and configures the default system trust settings so that DigiNotar's certificates, including those issued by other authorities, are not trusted.

On top of that Microsoft next Tuesday update would fix many bugs, hopefully that this DigiNotar ding will be part of it.

So now that Firefox 7.0 is out, what would you notice?

For starter this version boost up (much) faster and using 20-50% less memory than previous versions, especially in an OS X environment.

Some other positive features like an improved hardware-accelerated Canvas handling which offloads HTML5 animations to your graphics card, making web games such as Angry Birds or Runfield run smoother, support of W3C’s navigation timing spec, allowing developers to test their page’s load speed remotely - and of course an Android version that now allows copy and paste.

Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source[8] web browser descended from the Mozilla Application Suite and managed by Mozilla Corporation. As of September 2011[update], Firefox is the second most widely used browser, with approximately 25% of worldwide usage share of web browsers.[9][10][11] The browser has had particular success in Germany and Poland, where it is the most popular browser with 51% usage[12] and 46%[13] respectively.

To display web pages, Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine, which implements most current web standards in addition to several features that are intended to anticipate likely additions to the standards.[14]

Features include tabbed browsing, spell checking, incremental find, live bookmarking, a download manager, private browsing, location-aware browsing (also known as "geolocation") based exclusively on a Google service[15] and an integrated search system that uses Google by default in most localizations. Functions can be added through extensions, created by third-party developers,[16] of which there is a wide selection, a feature that has attracted many of Firefox's users.

Firefox runs on various operating systems including Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, and many other platforms. Its current stable release is version 7.0.1, released on September 29, 2011[update].[17]

Firefox Built-in PDF reader

Yes, this is Mozilla's own PDF reader, not the same one in Chrome where it is being written by the folks at FoxIt - meaning the Pdf.js source code is available for all to use and tweak.

I'll stick with Opera that I have used almost exclusively since 2002. It has a built in e-mail client and functions & features that FF doesn't even when/if you bother adding them with those plugins (if you can find them).

And it places all files in one folder (if you choose that option), unlike 99% of all other programs! No burying some of them in that stupid M$ Docs & Settings folder.

1. No need to blast Firefox here wink.gif
2. Simple Mail add on works good for many users
3. Glad to hear that Opera works well for you headbang.gif
