Hi, all!

I'm thinking about purchasing this notebook Pavilion dv7-2270er
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...roduct=4058543

and I'd like to hear your thoughts about this model.

Also I liked this one HP Pavilion dv6-2030er
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...050050&lang=en

It's cheaper and less powerful, so I wonder is the difference between them worth paying more?
Where will it be crucial? Only while working with video, playing latest games or archiving big files?

I'll be glad to read your opinions.
Thanks in advance.

I would take the 17" option (1st link) then. But how much cheaper are we talking here?

Almost $300 for larger screen and DDR3 memory ... Take the DV6 then

DDR3 would be worth the upgrade in 2010

Now I doubt again...

Yep, dv7 will be more competitive in the future, so that's a plus.
I guess it's worth it.

But if I complicate the question a little.
What would you rather buy dv7 or dv6+netbook?
Both variants are ~ 1100$.

2 toys do not always mean a better scenario

I still stick with the DV6 alone, and keep the saving for later.

The DV7 has and Intel processor which add to the cost because it's a better mobile processor. The drive on the DV7 is 7200 RPM. The higher resolution screen also cost more. I would so with the DV7 since I already have one. I almost forgot to add the DV7 has a 8 cell battery and the DV6 has a 6 cell.

I would go DV7 unless budget was the issue. AMD CPU's work fine but run a little hotter and use more power. The higher resolution, Intel CPU, DDR3, 8 cell batt and faster (but smaller) HDD are worth $230 if you can afford. Oh and also remember a 17" the same as 15" costs a little more.

On HP's anything that adds less heat is good as they like to fail so the Intel wins on that also. The 17" says 4650w/DDR3 other does not. Likely the same but would double check.

Sure, I'll review it, though I'm not good at this.

Right, Intel is not that hot, but Radeon is hotter than NVidia, so
I'm planning to use a cooling pad for dv7.
I didn't find an equally powerful HP model with both Intel processor and Nvidia graphics for ~ $1100.

We can walk through it together. NBF has a template for notebooks review.

Just follow the instruction.
