So i just reformatted this PC and loaded, W7 on it but im having a horrible time with the cam, the image appears dark now when before it was a much clearer image even in low lights.

The Cyberlink You Cam software that came with it, was ok so i re-dowloaded that again but im still having issues the lighting is very poor.

What would you say the problem is here, low lighting conditions or bad drivers cause this did not happen until i reformatted the thing. I really don't want to go back to VISTA in order to fix this problems all ideas are welcome.

And playing with contrast and brightness does not improve?

Check and see if there is any patches from PowerDVD itself.

Yes i checked the brightness and contrast one of the first things i did, makes the image worst. So i played with the gamma and nothing either.

Went on cyberlink, and dowloaded their latest drivers for YOUCAM 3.0 that didn't help either.
According to HP the computer should be VISTA only. It's not prepped for W7 but at the same time i found drivers for W7.

Why don't you try just with the Vista driver and not the Windows 7 one?

I have tried that, not compatible which is def a bummer.

I would just try to extract the files onto a folder, and give a shot at installing the driver manually.

Both of the drivers were installed manualy, i'm thinking about using a different software program instead of the Cyberlink YouCam that came pre-installed.

Thats the reason why im messing with the cam anyways, its for the use of it on msn and skype. But the quality is just so poor

Are you saying then the quality is just as bad when you access the cam under Skype?

Does 7 have "Scanners and Cameras" under the control panel to futz with like XP? And if I recall, Skype has its own camera properties menu under the preferences to adjust brightness and all that. If no adjustments help, it's obviously a driver issue that you may not be able to resolve.
