M7700 driver for Windows 7?

Thread Starter
Hi everyone! I'm new here. I bought an old M7700, but since it's way more powerful that my previous notebook, I think it's a really good pc.
I installed Windows 7 on it just this morning, but it seems that there are no drivers for it... Worst of all, the Video Card is not recognized, and I cannot install any driver for it. Obviusly Audio doesn't work, and so on with the other devices... I could use XP (I have it with full M7700 drivers), but I prefer Windows 7... Is there any way to get this notebbok work with this system? Thanks everyone!

Just have to give it a shot, and let Windows 7 picking up the appropriate drivers for you. Most of Windows 7 drivers from their database work fine.

List out the devices you have, using what XP drivers you have in hand as references. It will help us chasing them down on the net together.

What RAID driver are you installing on it?

My experience with setting up Windows 7 on other machines was finding it is compatible with most legacy drivers. For example, older desktops and laptops of five+ years that didn't even have Vista drivers available. I'm going to be installing Win7 on a 7700 later today and will let you know if it works out.

And there were sites that produced modified video driver sets that allowed GO cards, and I remember having good results with them back in the day. I believe one guy here even used to produce them, but I believe guru3d.com is also relevant. Like I said I'll let you know how my system works out.

Alright the main installation of Win7 handled most stuff like ethernet and even the webcam. The audio and video have been the biggest problems.

I grabbed audio from here http://support.alienware.com/Support...anu=8&item=831 and it worked..I'm just not certain why. I say this because the installation stalled half way into it and I had to shut down Windows. Yet it was installed when I rebooted, and after just a couple restarts it's been fine. The sound manager works and everything. I suppose I should leave it alone for fear of making things worse.

The keyboard driver works fine from there. If you care about the touch pad for some reason then I recommend retrieving the driver from the Synaptics web site because the one there has compatibility issues even if you force install it.

For the video driver this succeeded in detecting the Geforce and I'm at 1680 with hardware acceleration. http://downloads.eurocom.com/support...32/01VIDEO.zip That should get you going for now and perhaps later you'll want to experiment with something like Omega drivers or one of the sets off guru3d.

Like I said, Windows 7 is really good with older drivers and far superior to Vista in compatibility. Next time just try whichever ones you can find even if they don't say Win7.

Stay away from those links, it ain't worth a peanut ...

http://support.alienware.com/Support...t=&manu=&item=

They have some links to Dell Support Site for drivers. Give that a shot and let us know.

You can also use Clevo D900K for some of the drivers.

Try to use this one thread for your issues so we can concentrate on it No need to post all over for the same issue

Funny that you are having so much issue with the upgrade to Windows 7 on your comp. Want to give it another go from the start? XP on the machine, update BIOS and chipset, then run a Windows 7 advisor. Before starting Windows 7 installation run Home Everest to pick all information about the devices. Then let's go drivers hunting.

Alienware Area 51 M7700 Audio driver

DO NOT BUY THAT RESTORE CD from the UK company IT DOES NOT WORK! I had to go to all the manufactures site to get drivers to work on my machine. I have them all except the audio driver.... ARGHHHHH!

If anyone has an idea where to get the audio drive to run Windows 7, I would be forever thankful. Spent way to many hours on ths bad boy and would hate to revert back to XP

Thanks
