got me. you could always try ebay for the right size jack, then just solder a new jack to the cables.

See if what you're looking for is in here: http://estore.asus.com/shop/category.asp?catid=385

Good luck. But Tomorrow I will make an attempt. I am not feeling good as you have already tried and other great members also. I will give the soldiers effort. Make no mistake.

I might have to resort to this approach.

It is disappointing that they have very limited parts for this model

Found another source just for the jack. This time they want $32 for shipping out a $5 part. Cool. The part number shows PJ081, but when I cross-check this number with other jacks, they are totally different.

Found IT!

It is the same jack for the Toshiba L45 models. $12 and it is on the way to this freezing cold city

Congrats. qhn what do you do after a Google search? Or are you just doing searches with different keywords until bingo?

No go with Google (or any other search engines). I had to browse through many (page of) pics at some weirdo sites (including eBay) regarding the DC jack, and then cross checked them. A good learning lesson.

It looks like that the mainboard gives up its ghost.

Can anyone suggest a place to find the motherboard replacement? I might have missed something someone somewhere ... ZERO tip returns at the moment for me.

The only places I can think of is directly from Asus, either via their e-store http://estore.asus.com or by calling them directly, or from an Asus reseller who might have spares floating around. For the latter, try e-mailing or sending a private message to Ken of GenTechPC.

I tried ASUS ... They wanted $500 plus for the board in exchange of the old board, this just told me that I might get just a rebuilt board instead. Already p.m. Ken.
