ACER HELP - New harddrive not recognised

Hi, I need help urgently, I have an acer 5620z and the hard drive died. I replaced the hard drive and I have recovery cd's but I can't use them as it looks for partitions. I have read that I need to partition the hard drive first so I downloaded the DiskFormatDT_V1-1D.iso and installed it. during the process it didn't see the hard drive but it ran through with no errors (by the way the bios does see the hard drive).

After the disk format cd I tried the recovery cds and I get the 'no partition found error' so i am stuck. i know there is the PQService but I don't know what to do as I need to be able to partition the drive so i can run recovery cds. As it is a new disk Alt F10 etc wont work.

I've heard good things about the experts on this forum so i'm not worried i'm sure someone would have had this problem. Thanks in advance.

Try with this Acer Format Utility, then try again with the Recovery CDs.

More Problems

Hi, thank you for the prompt reply, the utility worked and got me past the first stage - I have now another issue. When I run the recovery cds they run okay and once they get to 100% I get the error code 0xd000000a.

do you or anyone know why?

thanks again.

What is the hard drive model that you are using? Error seems to point to a failing drive.

Let us try this. If you can find GParted Live CD, go ahead and format the new drive again. Then repeat the recovery as above with the Acer Utility.

when i use GParted Live i get no operating system found and nothing happens. i have reseated the hard drive and still get the same error.

The GPart Live CD should only be used to format / partition the drive. What I suggested was to reformat the whole drive again using GPart, and then performing the recovery again. Sorry if I was so clear.

cheers ...
