LT3112H and Windows 7 problem

I just bought it at $279.00. It is loaded with Vista. I tried to install Win 7. Now there is a problem. If I use the battery alone, Win 7 loads perfectly. If i use power cable with battery in postion or power cable alone, Win 7 loads fine until it hits the mouse screen. The lcd screen turns into black and never comes back on. (it is supposed to turn black and back on again in just few seconds). I know Win 7 is still loading because I can hear the sound and even I can see the image although it is really dark. I think for some reason the lcd lamp is not on. Could it be a driver issue? (I have the newset driver) I know AMD/ATI does not provide the x series video card driver for win 7. Please help!!

What happens if you try loading W7 (with power adapter) under Safe Mode?

Then your suspicion was correct - driver issue somewhere. I recommend going through the graphic device first and remove its driver completely (using Driver Sweeper) and let W7 using its own driver.

This is a long way out, but the only way I know (and did) as how to mod the Vista driver of the X series to be supported under Windows 7.

1) Download the Vista driver here. Note that "driver only", (Option 2 - Individual Downloads)

2) Visit this site and follow the instruction as how to mod Vista Driver to work under Windows 7.

3) You would need to install the "modded" driver under Safe Mode.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help but still no luck. Here is what I did. I used the modded driver then I restarted the computer. It looks fine. So I restarted one more time. It is dead again. I uninstall the driver in safe mode (no probelm to start in save mode), reinstall, reboot, it is good. One more boot, it is dead. One thing for sure, the problem is caused by the video driver.

I agree with you on the graphic driver issue. Some systems will not work under Windows 7 for some reason or another.

Maybe Gateway will get its drivers / BIOS up to speed soon on this model for W7 support.

Here's hoping you made your recovery disks before you installed Win7.
