Reminds me of when the first iPhone came out. All those people who said they'd never buy it because it didn't have 3G or MMS or video, etc...
Just for the record, I was one of those who said they wouldn't get an iPhone because of lack of 3G, MMS, video, copy and paste, and etc. Once they were (finally) added in, I bought one. But no way I would get a crippled phone beforehand and just pretend it was fully functional.

Does anyone know if Apple will honor the warranty if I buy a gray market iPad in a country where they haven't yet been released. I'm thinking of picking one up for reading on and light gaming, but it hasn't been officially released in my region yet.

I'm assuming they'll still honor it if there are any mechanical faults, right? I don't have to buy it from an authorized reseller or anything like that do I?

I got a chance to experiment with an iPad this afternoon, on the 2nd day of its introduction here. Impressive - YouTube streaming, surfing, Words, Excel, music and video .... there is no hiccup with either Wifi or 3G connections. €799 for 64GB/Wifi/3G model!

iPad "carrying case"

No need to lug around the iPad and the keyboard in a bag. Simply put them together in a clam shell iBook like this blogger from Japan.

Surprisingly the iPad fits perfectly to the iBook screen frame, and the docking keyboard takes place of the iBook keyboard. The rest is just connecting adapters

And then there is this mod from a French user.

Ok the clamshell iBook is rather ingenious.

Well had a look at the ipad, nice, but some serious disadvantges.....

NO USB
NO Card reader
NO Webcam

Probably 3 of the things people will mainly use on a laptop/netbook....

The limited storage is a minus esp if you are an avid watcher of downloadable stuff....

Plus with the robbers running the mobile (cell) phone network deciding to curb the amount you can download without paying here in the not so distant future puts the lid on Steve Jobs utopian web ideals....

But, I wouldn't turn one down, it is nice (and I probably ranted about all this before).. And I just got hold of a HP TC1100 running XP tablet and to me that is what a tablet should be, USB, card slot, decent wifi, expandable with RAM and hard drive, and it would look even better with an apple style OS which is what I am going to try... (rambling off ho-hum)...

wow. Apart from iPhone (T-Mobile), iPad owners here can use whichever carrier they choose. The option of unlimited storage is also available, with a cost of course

Don't get me wrong, nice kit, no USB... But with the 3G carriers, one does it and all the rest follow....

Flash on iPad

Just came across this blog of "Jobs be damned: Flash on the iPad! "

In a nut shell it is

a web-based thin client and, since it offloads the rendering to a back-end capable of running any plugin
What can one say about it?
