Good minipcie wireless n?

Thread Starter
I'm thinking of upgrading the wireless on my laptop. It's only got 2 antennas, but I understand that'd be ok if I can live without 300mbps connections. I'm hoping to be able to achieve at least 30-50mbps with just 2 antennas and a dir655.

Anyone run a similar setup?

I'm seeing the intel 4965agn for $25 shipped from some places. That's a fantastic price. The model ok? Or is there an atheros based card I should splurge for? I'm guessing that with only two available antennas, the 4965agn would do me well enough? Not really looking to route a third antenna at this point in time unless there's a real easy way to do it with the compaq c762nr.

I'll need to flash a modded bios to be able to use the card. That's fine with me.

Take a look in the Acer Section. We have many members running modded miniPci with great reception / transmission tips. You might not even have to replace the card sometimes.

Check this out.... May save you money and messing about if you need the extra distance....

n cards, avoid broadcomm - poor drivers... Intel are probably the best, best driver support... Atheros are ok, but not well supported... Realtek, again, poor driver support....

^^ I would always say that an USB or PCMCIA wireless adapter is the best way to go
