Just wanted to say how impressed I am with my 8600 1.7 performance in Far Cry,truely a graphic intensive game and my 8600 handles it nicely, with in Game settings to High and 1028x768 I average around 28 to 32 Frames (will at times drop to low 20s in very intense battles) respectively, not to shaby...Should have no problems running upcoming titles such as Doom 3 and Half Life 2......By the way Far Cry is a Kick Ass Ride!!!!!! :Specs 8600 1.7

I think it looks really ood but I do think the gaming experience is hyped up. The jungle get boring after a while and the bio-mutants isnt that gives me a kick. On the other hand I generaly dont like monster-shooters...except Half Life

i think i'm like half way through Max Payne 2, the game is awesome, the style of the game is like a mix between matrix and hitman. I love it! Also, it's runnin' really nicely on my 1.4GHz 8600 with everything on high!

I have been thinking of getting Farcry for a while now.. can I ask, does it have multiplayer, and if so is it any good? What is it like?

Battlefied Vietnam has got me hooked at the moment. Sure I can't run it with AA or AF because of the problems with the game.... but you just don't notice after a little while! I pay with my brothers over a home network and friends on my Uni wireless, great fun.

And of course, I have been plaing KOTOR on and off for over 2 months... still have not finished it because I have so little time between Assignments, tests and BF:V.

Yes it is also a multiplayer game, but I have never played it as such, but here is a link that should answer any questions you might have http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=...02&f=452106891
You will not be disapointed in purchasing the game, One of the the more challenging First person shooter games I have played in a while ...

I have tries the multiplayer but only 1 vs 1, it still was great fun. The jungle is so amazing to sneak around in and the maps are large enough for different scenarios to happen. Also the game is HUGE! The maps are huge, the amunt of levels are impressive. Its good, I just dont like the monsters.

Damn this suck. i hate games with monsters i like shooting a bot (human). well i guess i have to give this a try i installed it today as i was coming to work so im going to give it a try at work hoping i dont get busted. other thing this game takes a long time to load. i dont know if is cuz of my CPU but too verylong just for the spashscreen to go away. anyway try it is cool i finished maxpayne 2 is not that hard. i think im about to finish pandora tomorrow but im up to the part where u have get sadona in the TV station and is like every time i kill all the guard he runs and wheni got after him even if my health is all the way up one shot from him and im dead. can anyone share some light on this please thank you

I agree on the monster part..I much rather put a bullet through a virtual human ( I dont know what that says about me..and I dont care). The loading is slow the first time the levels load.

Pandora: I suggest sneak-killing atleats two guards ( The cameraguy in the corner worked fine for me.) Then take the guard that will most likely see part fo that attack. Then start killing the others. The big tip: Hide near where you jumped down. There is hole in the wood-wall there. I know that Mr.Sadona likes to stand infront of that hiding-place whining about the intruder who just killed his guards and wondering where he went. Here is you chance to shine....

so basicaly kill as many guards as i can and then go for sadono. there is a switch to turn of the light that really does do notting u dont use that. im about to try that right now.

Congratz on Pandora

Seems like you have a graphic problem there...i found the graphics stunning in Far Cry...the jungle in particular. I played until the monsters started comin and then I uninstalled it..it was like 5 GB of my total HD space including the bins

Warlord, What set of video drivers are you running on that 8600? I can't run FC demo, lock-ups. I thought FC graphics were to much for my 8600
Thanks

I was using the 60.60 Drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/, and just updated to the 61.11s for my 5650 FXGo, Also the latest patch for Far Cry( patch 1.1 soon to be a new 1.2 patch) helped the game run a lot smoother. Don't know about the Demo performance but most of the time Demos run like Crap compared to the Final Full version. Also according to Nvidia the new drivers are supposed to increase Far Cry performance by 20% have not yet had a chance to see if this is true or not .....But Honestly I have Far Cry loaded on my Desktop Running an ATI 128 9800 Pro and cannot tell the difference in game play at all other than the 9800 having better visual quality, but other than that no difference.....

Have you tried the catalyst drivers nootrak4? I had a few problems running on a 1.7 8600 with the same video as you, but upgraded to the latest catalyst drivers and have had no problems since. You may try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game but I do not think it will help. I see you have a gig of RAM, but have you defragged your hard drive? I have a 60GB @7200 RPM ... about the only difference I can see in our systems except the processor. Also what resolution are you running? Mine is choppy @ 1920x1200 but runs beautifully @ 1280x1024 (I think, kinda gets to be number soup after a bit) ... you may want to try different resolutions. Set it to lowest with lowest advanced video settings and work your way up if you can.
