8600 And Far Cry - Page 3

FINALLY! Finished the game in realistic mode. Man, that last battle was near impossible. I was to the point of frusteration that I had to switch to a regular keyboard in fear that all my pounding would ruin the laptop.

Man I am at the "Bridge" part near the end where you start in the buggy and have to get to the where ever it is you have to get. I just keep getting lit up. I have resorted to maliciously running over as many of the Trigens as I can with the buggy to save ammo. You have to hit them fast however or they just bounce off and blow the sh*t out of you. Nine times out of ten I run into one and drive into the lava. Anyway once I go over the bridge at the begining and jump over the lava on the right to get to that hill I don't know where to go from there.

Maybe I should just try sober

Yeah its a bitch to get through, when I crossed the bridge I went Left and ran over the to Fatboys, get out of the jeep and you will find a log to cross the lava on foot, just keep running and dodging to the top of the hill, there will be a game save on the top of the hill, on the right you will find a small building with health and ammo, you then go down the other side of the hill and go into the complex below.................

What % of moster compare to humans do u fight in the game. so far i dont mind the game it has been notting but humans. well i dont know where u guys are at but i tihnk im at the beginning of the game. I just passed the supervison Complex and im up to the next fasility. and in here here are the mosters again. im up to the part where is this big fat moster on a OP Table. after that the Moster just come out of nowhere and kill me with like to swings LOL. which gun do u think i should use. I just go this hotgun type of gun. what do u guy keep by the way. i have the sniper, M16, this shotgun looking type gun and the handgun. what do u suggest i keep and leave behind.

Yeh I don't mind the monters. They mix them in here and there so it's not all monters after a certain point or anything. They will kill you in one hit if you don't have any armor, two if you do. When your in close the shotgun is always best. Further away I like the M4, just aim at the head. When your fighting them outside and are far enough away the sniper rifle will also take them down quick.
The M4 is the one with the silencer. and way what are all the guns u carry.
no the silenced one is the HK or MP5 or something like that
post #49 of 58
So what are all the gun u use i know u have 4 choices so which one are the ones u have.
I like the m4, shotgun, sniper rifle, and rocket launcher but that's just me. If you run out of sniper or rocket ammo pick up another assault rifle, if you haven't already you'll find them with grenade launchers on them which come in handy.

Just get the free version of FRAPS http://www.fraps.com/downloads.htm it will show your frame rates during game play........you can also take screenshots as well......

so yea i oc'ed to 380 and 280 like CeK said. And yea..., my system completely CRASHED. I'm like freakin' out. First, Far Cry froze, then when i tried ta turn of my 8600 by holding down the power button, weird lines come on my screen. Then some windows error came up. So i just held down the power button longer until it completely turned off. I tried turning it back on, but it wouldn't turn on. it would look like it was starting to boot, nothing would come on the screen, and then all the lights turned off. I had to plug in my power supply for it to boot back up. So i got windows to boot up, but my 8600 was now running slow as HELL. I really don't know what's going on. I think i might'a fried something, but i'm not sure. So now i'm doing a compelet fresh install. Hopefully nothing is broken, but i dunno...

totally freakin' out, don't know what ta do...

i swear, if everything goes back to normal, i'll never OC my 9600pro, please, if there is a Dell GOD out there, help me out...

You just OCed to 380/280 just like that? As i learned the hard way, your supposed to increment upwards slowly.

You can only raise the memory speed to about 260 if you don't modify it, so you really overshot. Raise the clock speed in 5 mhz intervals, dont jump up all at once. Do the core first, and then the memory, so if it crashes you know which one is too high. After each 20 mhz increase, I reccommend doing play-testing. Play a 3d game for about 10 minutes, or until the temperature seems to level-off (use i8kfangui). This is to eliminate the downtime aquamark provides in-between each test. Overclocking can be done safely. You are going to see that white screen one more time, that is when you hit your limit. There is a point to each GPU where it can't overclock anymore (short of volt-modding), regardless of cooling. When you reach that, reduce speed by 5 mhz and leave it there.
The only reason you saw that white screen was because you took a huge jump. Modify the memory cooling if you want to, it helps a lot. Never set your speeds at a level another person has expecting it to work, each GPU is different.
me and Malone both took our gpus to 400/300 with perfectly good stability. But we also did a cooling mod to both of ours. I hope you did some sort of cooling mod, since the 9600pt is hot enough as it is, without overclocking. Anyway, overclocking can deffinetely lead to permanent damage, which is NOT covered by dell. So I really hope you shut ur computer off in time Yi….

Good luck.

yea, i did a clean install, and everything seems fine. I was using the dell drivers, but i installed omega this time. Doesn't seem as smooth, gonna go back to the dell drivers. Also, how slowly do you raise your core and memory when oc'ing?
