m5550 Dead Screen

Hi guys,

I current own an Alienware m5550 and I adore it. However, warranty is long gone and the lamp on the beautiful WUXGA screen has gone bad. I'm looking into purchasing a replacement screen and doing the repair job myself. Are there any good places to buy the LCD panel from? How can I ensure it's the right one? Is there a guide on how to remove the front bezel?

One of many on-line resellers here.

You can use this as reference for LCD replacement.

I just finished placing an order for the screen.

Hopefully all goes well and I'll have this thing working again.

Thank you again for your help.

It turns out it was a bad inverter. Swapped the LCD out and it didn't fix the issue. Swapped out the inverter and at first, it didn't seem like anything happened. After a few minutes, the screen came to life.
