so hard to pass up. so hard.

I'll wait for the 1st delivery batch before jumping on the band-wagon. The m17x was a bit of a let-down after the 1st rush. Hope the m11x will be different.

cheers ...

Yeh the nvidia drivers are definitely something to worry about. Maybe you've changed my mind Q.

I still think that it is another innovation from the part of Alienware, no doubt. But they need to take a deep breath and learn from what happened with the m17x roll-out. Maybe Dell should really back up and let the people at Alienware perform.

2 things that occupy my mind at the moment about this model:

a. Battery usage: granted that they mention 2 hours of intensive gaming. This would be a great improvements to all gaming machines that I know off so far; and it means that something must be sacrificed as far as performance concerns. Question is where? Would they throttle it somehow? And what would this mean when the comp is on power direct? .... BIOS!

b. Heat. I haven't seen a concrete information about this area.

cheers ...

You're right Q. I should review this unit before deciding.

Also thinking about it... but may wait for reviews (and funds)

Does sound like the perfect laptop I've been waiting for years for, though. My 9400 was a beast to lug around, and my Mini 10 is just not meant for gaming (but shares many similarities with the m11x)

Sooo tempting. I've been wanting a laptop like this for years. And at this price I dunno if I can resist.

I figure I'd wait for my review unit before I ordered. I had the page open all day before I hit SUBMIT.

NWGuru has one on the pipeline as well. Can't wait to read all NBF personal reviews.

cheers ...

Wow... I have not posted in quite some time, but I had to chime in.....

This machine exactly fits my needs. I loved my Sentia, back in the day, and I really do not like to bring along my M15X when I travel.... so this is a no-brainer for me. I am not sure when I will pull the trigger, but it will be within the next month or so.

I can't find any info about the M11x "Avatar" ordering options.

Like …

1) Where is the Avatar on the notebook, is it on the
cover or above the keyboard or is it just a desktop display
option that can be changed by the user later?

2) Are there any pictures of the Avatar options like
is the "Alienhead 3D" lighted. What is the "Alienhead Glow"
option or the "Alien Chrome Red" option. How can you order
a M11x if the website doesn't show you a picture of what
the options look like.

3) Do they give you all the wallpapers so you can change it
later, if you can then why is it an option if you can change it later?

Thanks…

I'm going to order one, once I figure out how much my 'actual' paycheck will be. *National Guard just activated me on 22 Jan, so the bi-monthly paychecks haven't been determined yet. *
