m11x has dropped to under $600. Looks like they're clearing inventory for something new.

It's just for the Core 2 Duo. The i Series are near a grand.

Locally the "cheap" one is the i3 that after some lookup is very very weak compared other other i-series due to lack of throttlestop tweakability.

The Duo CPU still works great for gaming.

I absolutely agree. My C2D M11x is the best computer purchase I've ever made.

Used m11X are going for €300-500 (large spread) here Looking like Dell is trying to compete with the 3rd parties on this model to clear their inventory like Steve mentioned.

cheers ...

If I didn't just buy a new 55 inch TV I'd be buying an m11x

Well, it's been a few years, but my venerable macbook is finally being replaced.

I started off with an Asus B53, but decided I didn't like the large size, and took advantage of a malfunctioning HDMI port and a loose battery to return it to Amazon.

Still wanting an Asus, I then purchased their U43 bamboo laptop, but the build quality was unexceptional and I suffered from such a huge list of specific problems that when I returned it two days later the Amazon tech simply wrote on the RMA "lots of physical, and software problems, and screen problems ever since he placed the order. "

So then, for kicks, I checked out the Alienware line, as I've always had fond memories of my old Sentia, and regretted selling it. Noticed a pretty slick sale and took advantage of it:

Congrats on your order! I really love mine, and haven't had one single problem with it after a year of ownership.

I'm jealous of that machine. Still trying to find an excuse to get one.
