Too much time to think!

I am working away from home during the week at the moment and have been spending most nights in the hotel surfing on the in room FREE! broadband (got my wifes old samsung x15 with me ) however it has given me too much time to think about my M1730 8700m sli one gpu broken problem and I had pretty much decided to not throw any more money at it and get something new (with a warrenty) , so I have spent alot of time surfing for gaming notebooks and have been taken by the ASUS and toshiba offerings mainly fitted with 260M's or 4850's , there are a couple with 360M and 5870's in but not really here yet (UK) however looking at reviews of the 260's and 4850's I am pretty unimpressed with the gaming performance , reviews do tend to try and max out the gfx etc but in a number reviews for current games your getting sub 40 fps at best and right down to sub 20 fps , all this has turned me back to my M1730 with its great screen and sound , raid 0 and those £500 ebay 9800GTX sli's

On the one hand £1300- £1500 pounds for a new laptop or on the other hand £500 with all the risk for a laptop that is not much slower (if at all ) than the new ones!

I will have to ponder it some more and hope I can find some decent reviews of the new 360M's!

the one point to consider is that the M1730 GPUs are all failing so it maybe better to sell it for parts and buy something new with a Warranty.

Well I am slowly coming round to my decision I am thinking about one of these pair

or

The choice will be pretty much down to money (i.e. what I can get away with ), it means the M1730 will have to go which is a shame because as a machine I think it is still way ahead of similar offerings in terms of features, style etc but I just feel like if a bought the ebay cards 2 months down the road I will be in the same position

As a thought due you think I would get more for parts or as a job lot , there seem to be a lot of M1730 parts available on ebay which might depress prices

Most of the time selling for parts can get you more. But it will take time to unload them all.

cheers ...
