I already keep all of my photos and videos on external drives, because it is easier to go back and forth between multiple computers that way. I have two external drives, both of them were hard drives I had taken out of one of my previous notebooks when upgrading them with larger capacities.

Just get some external housings and fit the drives in there They are cheap and can be used as good protection.

yeah, you don't use them open. here's a picture of my two externals:



the silver one is the enclosure I use for my two PATA notebook drives from my Gateway, alternating between them as I need different things on them. the blue one I just bought along with a bigger drive for my XPS, so it has my XPS's old drive in it right now
