3D glasses?

Would this notebook be able to support something like the 3D glasses on the G51J-3d notebook?

NW can you sell the G73 and buy a NP8690? I am considering maybe those 2. I wish 8690 had baclklit keyboard but well we can't have it all.

I do not think I need 8GB RAM so 4GB is fine. I do not need two HDD's especially if not RAID. Could ESATA with the 8690 anyway. So $1600 for 8690 with FHD, no BR. Smaller form factor and does have HD5870? I don't know what to do. I could upgrade to 820QM for $190? Not the $575 Asus wants. Any of you guys got opinions? 7.38lbs vs 8.5lbs.

$1500 vs $1600?

FYI: Asus doesn't do upgrades or customization on their machines. The $575 in question is the full retail price of the 820QM and is being charged by your reseller to do the upgrade. Sager DOES do customizations, which is why you can have an upgrade price as opposed to a full retail price.

Don't temp me.

The lack of OC features in the Clevo systems has me staying away from them. At most right now you can get the x8100 which will let you OC 133Mhz at a time up to 4x133. Not very helpful. So that leaves changing the turbo boost multipliers with a 920 proc.

I have read plenty about the clevo systems and if I didn't care about OC'ing them I would pick them over Asus because of the ease of upgrading and better cooling. Plus the fact you can buy them barebones helps keep upfront costs down.

Clevo is a bit behind this year. Heck, they were not even in the main hall as with other manufacturers at this year CeBIT

My hunch is that one will not see any new announcements from Clevo until late June/July.

cheers ...

I'm guessing sooner. The x8100 is new but I'm guessing we see something similar but smaller.

OK guys I have said this before, not sure where but I say it here know. I am planning on buying two of these stock. The A2 model. On Tuesday I will have a better idea about fundage.

I just think the bang for the buck factor is too much. Going to buy one for me and my Irish twin brother who is older. I like the Sagers but I am not even a hard core gamer and buying two. I do know if I want to upgrade even at purchase Sager becomes more in line price wise. But I think stock will be fine. I posted on Xotic and did a live chat with Justin W I feel good. They are fast I just have to get the cash?

What will be faster me getting the cash or Asus delivering units? I think I might win.

This is your last chance guys to talk me off the ledge? I am buying stock. If I have to upgrade Sager?

I would go for it pp. But in the same breath something is telling me that ASUS is about to introduce a surprise in April (could be April's Fool)

cheers ...

The W870CU is definitely an easier upgrade and doesn't have a warranty sticker on the CPU heatsink like the G73.

If I were to buy a system right now I think I would get the Thinkpad W510 with multitouch LED.

Could I buy the X1 and swap out the DVD drive for a Blu Ray? I haven't seen the X2 available yet.
I don't see why not.

You'll have to swap the bezel and it won't say blu-ray on it but otherwise it should work.
It seems to me that it is cheaper just to get the blu-ray configuration for this model and be done with. 3rd party replacement units are still high as I see them.

cheers ...

Why?

I never knew about this laptop until I read your comment. I then google it and did a little bit of reading and it seems that it is a great system with plenty of ports.

However, what do you think of the graphic card? Is the NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M Graphics with 1GB DDR3 memory a good graphic card? What is it comparable to?

Also, I don't know about the heat issue or the noise level of this laptop. I don't mind the more expensive price compared to the Asus G73.

I have to do more research on the heat and noise level.

Any good review on this laptop?

The Quadro FX 880M seems to have benchmark numbers close to the ATI Mobility Radeon 5650, so it should be a good performance level graphics card, but it won't be anywhere near as powerful as the 5870 in the Asus G73JH
