I called to see if there was a response on my claim that I shipped everything back. I was told it takes two to three days to get a response. Are they serious? Honestly this will be the last time I deal with them. My system will be sold when I get it back.

I was finally told they found my missing pieces...joy. Now they tell me to wait for a call. Probably another 2-3 business days.

For those that like to over-clock it seems some have found a way to make setfsb work with the G73. I haven't investigated too much for obvious reasons.

Just teleport there and try it out!

I just checked my RMA status and they are shipping me a new system. It should be here on Wednesday. They could have just told me that yesterday.

What percentage of people do you think are having issues with their G73?

I don't know what the percentage is but people often experience the same "gray screen of death". Basically while gaming the system locks up and the screen turns gray. Some say it's gray with black bars. Although I never experienced it I see a lit of people complaining about it. These proprietary GPUs Asus uses seem to have a high failure rate.

It is strange. I have an HP with an ATI card in it and I have gotten some GSOD within the last year when playing some games. I was able to get out of it by brining up the task manager and things went back to normal.
My HP is almost 5 years old at this point but still kicking. I am not a hard core gamer but I do some audio recording/ video editing and the G73 looks like a great value. I will not be doing any modifications or OC'ing, so I am not concerned about upgrading. I was looking at the G51jx, but I like the dual HDD in the G73.

So far the G73 is holding pretty good according to what I read and heard, when comparing it to the m17x and other comparable gaming machines. The look can turn many users off though.

cheers ...

I'm the type of person who likes the plain look of a Thinkpad and the flashy look of an Alienware. Just don't put bright orange flames on the lid.
LOL. The look of the G73 does not bother me, I like it myself.
I like the look of the m17x as well, but do not have the funds to get it without going into debt.

i am new to ATI scene, always had nVidia.
can ya tell me where i can get a nice ATI catalyst driver for G73, except the one that is on the ASUS's web site (this is around 250mb). Laptop doesn't pick up the driver when you get drivers from anywhere else. (like guru3d or laptop2video)

You can get it at the ATI website.

A quick update on my G73. I still have the system and it's performing well. I have not done any of the upgrades I did to my previous system. I do plan on testing a standard MXM 3.0b ATI 5870 card in it. These cards seem to run cooler in other system plus can be OC'ed better at the core. Should be interesting because if it does work that means there is an upgrade path for the GPU in the G73.

This whole thread has convinced me I can't possibly overclock my 7950 go gtx anymore...I need an asus with a decent mxm video card : (

G73JH (Best Buy version) charger replacement

Okay I have been wondering if using a different charger other than the one provide(mine broke) reduces the effectiveness of your PC to play games, spider man: shattered dimensions in particular, my laptop always crashes or freezes when playing this for about 4 to 5mins. And I always notice the the blue cylinder icon that always flashes(at front of the computer with battery icon), stops while everything else is still on, when it freezes.
I also can't find my receipt anywhere would it be possible to replace my charger by going to Best buy?

Thanks

Can always try. Do you happen to have other things from Best Buys? Plead the case to them if you are a repeated customer to the stores.

cheers ...
