P-7805u Lock Up Issues HELP

Months ago I upgraded my P7805u FX to Windows 7 64 bit and an OCZ SSD boot drive, although Gateway provides drivers for all the upgrades I made, their support told me to pound sand since I've modified it.

The problem is that over the last 2 or 3 weeks it's started to occasionally (twice a day on average) lock up with a black screen. Holding the power button is the only thing that I can do to get anywhere and then it works fine on the reboot until the issue happens again. It seems to only occur during stressful activity (gaming).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a restore point to before (the 2-3 weeks) this problem occurs?

K, frustrating update on this. After consulting a friend of mine that's in the business, I did a full re-install, FULL formatting both hard drives. Got it up and running, had the same issue, we traced it to the most recent Nvidia driver I updated directly from Nvidia and rolled that back to the most recent driver provided on the Gateway website and then last night while playing world of warcraft, it happened again. It's only happened while playing WoW, and only during extremely high traffic areas where a lot of things are happening / spells being cast.

Here's the weird part, I was playing in Windowed mode everytime it happened. I switch to full screen and then those more intense moments only cause a frame drop, not a lockup. I don't seem to ever get a significant frame drop in windowed mode, just the black screen lock up.

And before I did the re-install I checked OCZ's web site and the above referenced issues don't apply to the Agility series which is the one I have.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as both myself and now my industry friend are pulling our hair out over this one.

Also the only thing in the system logs are that windows shut down unexpectedly messages, nothing else. We went through the entire app log and nothing since I rolled the driver back.

Just out of curiosity. You checked WoW site for patches and/or tips for Windows 7?

All of their patches are mandatory before you can even log in.

I was thinking about the patch specific for Windows 7, not game patches. Anyway, have you tried running it under Administative Mode? Right click on WoW.exe and choose run as Administrator?

cheers ...
