i9300 and Stuttering HD streaming

Hey guys, i9300 owner here. It's killing me that I can't get HD video streaming (Hulu, Youtube, Slingbox, etc...) to work smoothly on the 9300.

Any suggestions on how/if I can make this happen. It's killing me as I'm getting a new desktop that will stream HD just fine but I wanted to retire the 9300 to my media watching machine at work?

I just pin modded to 2.3ghz, have max memory (2gb), running windows 7, a 6800 go gpu ( with NBF MobileForce Se7en 190.38 drivers ), 60gb 5400 HD.

Any thoughts?

The only weak point I see is the 5400 RPM hard Drive.

Do you have Aero disabled

Windows Vista, and to a lessor extent Win 7 do eat up GPU power with all the graphic intensive themes etc.

Did you have Win XP running this stuff in the past by chance ?

Ya, areo is off, and 7 is set for best performance.

I did have xp on it but not with the pin modded processor and to be honest, it has been so long since i had it on there I forget if had issues with it or not.

Sucks cause I'm pretty sure its the processor since flash has nothing to do wit the GPU, or really "flash" itself since I can run mkv's and avi's in HD fullscreen with no stuttering.

well I suspect a good 7200 RPM hard drive may help, can you borrow one to test.

But you may also want to try running Xp and see if it works

Are you streaming with wireless or cable connect?

Could a 7200 make that much of a difference? I was looking into it but I need a pata drive and they very unreasonably priced.

I could give xp a shot but to be honest, I'm all in on "windows 7", love it that much.

I'm streaming over wireless, I'll try a hard line plugged right into the router but we are talking a laptop here, so that would kill the functionality.

I'm pretty sure, like I stated before, that it is a processor + flash problem as that seems to the be the consensus, but I'm willing to try anything (sans the xp part) to see if I could get her to work.

Have you updated Flash then? Laptop mobility can be pain sometimes for streaming media. I have yet seen an advertissment that guarantees smooth streaming with wireless.

Regardless, I would try another wireless area where you can be sure that there is no interference or fluctuation in connection.

Ya, flash is up to date.

The wireless network is my own, so I doubt interference is the culprit.

I just pin modded it, going from 1.6 to a 1.7 @ 2.3 and I did see an improvement but there is still stuttering hence my blaming the cpu or rather flash just using the cpu and not letting the gpu handle some of the stress as flash is mainly cpu based.

is the video stuttering or the audio? I cannot find a audio driver that doesnt stutter the audio on Windows 7 on this thing. Its doing it right now as I listen to a mp3....

Hmmmmmmmm.
U sure it's not throttling?
I know when I overclocked mine it worked well for anything non-intensive, but the second I did anything requiring 60-70% cpu power it had a bad habit of throttling in anticipation of heat I guess. Kinda lame-ass-lame.
I fixed it by going back to stock.
Also check the bios to see if speedsteps on. Just some suggestions.
