NW9440 battery rebuild?

Thread Starter
The original battery pack on my NW9440 is getting very tired.

Before I rush out to buy a new battery pack, is this one that can readily be opened up and the Li-Ion cells replaced? The form factor suggests it has 8 AA sized cells inside - if only I can open it without destroying it, replacing the cells should be a doddle - catch is I can't work out the non-destructive way to open this.

Has anyone been there, done that, and is able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks
Dave

It is not worth it. Prying the battery apart, getting cells and soldering ...

cheers ...

While I have read of reconditioning batts. I have even read some things you can do without even replacing the cells. I do not remember the specifics. And I in general do not try. I am very concerned about batteries and safety. If Sony and others who actually were manufacturing batteries that exploded or caught fire a couple of years ago? It makes me think not the area we novices should be playing with.

I know some disagree and think the dangers are over stated. So be it, for me not worth the risk. If you do choose to go ahead I wish you the best. Maybe some one will post? There is much you can read about the entire subject from many places.
