HP DV7T Quad keyboard issue...grrr!

I guess I spoke to soon about my system being perfect (except for the hard drive cover issue that has now been corrected.)

My keyboard is kinda strange. The keys from the middle of the keyboard, all the way over to the right are good and feel solid...even the housing the keys sit in is very solid. HOWEVER...

From the middle of the keyboard all the way to the left side of it when I type the housing that the keys sit in is not solid...it has 'flex' to it...and is actually quite loud when typing in that area. Is this normal or do I have a bad keyboard? God I can hear it now "please return your system to HP to replace your keyboard"...

I'm sure it's very easy to remove it and change it but they will insist that I send it in. Why can't they be more like Dell when it comes to parts that are easily user replaceable?

Anyways anyone else with this system that can comment?

Thanks

Dayvid I don't have so can't comment. But consider going back to Staples and see if others have flex. On some systems this is an issue for some people. So if the system no point in trying to fix if not a "unit" problem per se.

Yeah I guess I could do that, the thought never occured to me to even check it. There must be hardware (or something) that sits under the right side of the keyboard that makes it more solid proof, verses the other side. Not sure what else would cause the issue.

Those who review do make this a real issue not so much the main sources but the hardcore reviewers. It does happen and is a design complaint. I myself am not a real typist so I never notice to the standards you might and certainly others do.

I took a quick look see and did not find this mentioned specifically. I did read about the DV6T having flex under the "f" key? While a different model I attribute the lack of comment to reflect more on the reviewers. Some/most lack a critical eye on this area. Like me they get all excited with the bells and whistles. The components not the build.

I greatly fear this is a system build issue not a unit issue. If it is the prior I hope not so bad as to make the notebook less than satisfactory to you.
