Fellow Dell 1558 owners, how is your hard drive vibration?

So I got my dell 1558 a week back and I love everything about it. Except for the annoying hard drive vibration I can feel to the left of the touchpad, a bit on the touchpad and the left side of the keyboard.

Initially, my research said it was an issue with the Seagate 7200s, so I got a WD Scorpio Blue 5400RPM, Cloned my existing hard drive and used that. After re-seating it again, the vibration had become less but still noticible.

I also found out that if I applied pressure/weight to the left of the touchpad, the vibration would be gone.

Anyway, I want to know if other Studi 1558 owners are noticing the same issue or not?

Thanks

Where exactly is the harddrive located?
You gotta remember that even at 5400RPM thats roughly 65 km/hr that the hard drive is at. Speed plays a big roll in vibrations and nothing is perfectly balanced.

If it's at the bottom of the notebook you have issues, but if at the top, then there probably isn't any shock system installed. If thats the case then maybe check warranty or install some foam in there yourself on the top with harder rubber material beneath to carry the vibrations to the table the lappy's on rather than the palmrest.

It is installed at the bottom of the notebook, just to the left of the touchpad.

Many Sony models have this issue of "vibration" where one can feel it when the hand rests on the palm rest whilst typing.

cheers ...

Check the BIOS and see if there is a setting for Drive Performance

some have a feature that puts the drive in Performance Vs Quiet" mode

Opened up BIOS. Under Advanced, don't see a performance option. I see fpr SATA Operation value set to AHCI.

I assume you tried changing it around?

You could also force the harddrive to spin down more often using notebookhardwarecontrol, but thats more of a help it won't solve ur issue.

Tried changing it, computer wouldn't boot up after that.

I have noticed that the vibrations also differ based on the surface and usually become negligible if I just lift the left front side of the laptop in the air.
