Hi everybody!
Think we all have this thing staring at us from the top of the lid. Where's the signal that indicates when it's turned on, and where's the control panel to make sure it's turned off until you--and only you--decide you want to turn it on? I know some peeps have gone to the extreme of taping over the port.
For those who don't yet know the story, a high school in suburban Philadelphia handed out Mac laptops--which just happened to have built-in webcams--to all its students. So far, so good. But now it turns out, the school has been caught spying on the students remotely through those webcams. Here's one of thousands of articles about this developing story http://www.philly.com/philly/busines..._teachers.html
Funny thing is, I didn't even want this stupid thing built into my laptop--I could always buy one for fifteen bucks if I decided I really wanted it. But, I did want the Bio-
Protection fingerprint reader, which is also a built-in feature, unavailable on this model (5735-6694).
(Why Acer refuses to offer the fingerprint reader across the product lineup, or Dell doing the same with their illuminated keyboard, and Lenovo with their waterproof keypad, is a rant for a separate thread.)

Blame it on some spying software.
