T9900 for P-7811FX

I believe I read somewhere on this forum that some users are using the HP version of the T9900, part# 570434-001.

I've located one, but want to make sure it indeed will fit the P-7811FX. It says it fits socket Micro-FCPGA. Does that sound compatible? This is the source link I found. If someone could advise, i would appreciate it.

(see part# in left-hand corner)

Specs are as follows:

HP - 570434-001
Laptop Processor (CPU): Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile processor T9900 - 3.06GHz (Penryn-MV; 1066MHz front side bus; 6MB total Level-2 cache; Socket Micro-FCPGA; 35W TDP)

I am not aware that it exists different (manufacturer) versions of the T9900

It should work.

Only options PGA and BGA. You want PGA "pin grid array" It means it plugs in. BGA not good?

It will do fine and a very nice upgrade from the stock
p8400

That is actually a good price, also the HP site still has them for just a little bit more, but gives you everything needed to install, a tube of compound, and alcohol wipes for cleaning, and of course the processor!!

Rob should come packaged like this
Wish I had the $$$ right now because I would surely love to have one.
Most of them on Ebay are going in the 400 dollar range.

Ordered it yesterday at noon and it was on my doorstep this morning at 10 am via UPS. Install was a snap and recognized immediately with bios 9c.05. I haven't done much testing, but it is running at about 28 degrees celsius. This concludes my upgrades which consist of 2 WD 320 Scorpio Black 7200 rpm drives and an HL-CT10N Blu-Ray drive. Thanks to all who advised and assisted me and put up with the dumb questions.

Wow that was might darn quick, good job. Did the thermal pad on the heatsink happen to rip/tear? A number of individuals have had great luck using ICD7 thermal compound there since it is a very thick compound and will fill the gap or you can copper shim it. You have a great combo there. Hope it will serve you well, and give some extra milage.
Think about flashing the BIOS to least .08, .10, .12 or .17.
.20 just came out but would shy away from it right now as it appears to have some issues with fan control on the gpu.
What are you using for BR playback???
Cheers

PS there are no dumb questions!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Andy. I paid for overnight shipping from HP.The entire price with tax and shipping was $374. If you mean software for BD playback, I'm using PowerDVD 9 Ultra and I also have Corel WinDVD Pro 2010. The drive is a refurbished Dell OEM HL-CT10N which I believe is made by LG.

The only thing I've noticed so far is that the FX's fan now spins up more often. Perhaps a later bios would help. I am using a Zalman NC-2000 cooler at full fan speed.
