m9750 and dead 7950GTX card

Alienware needs to change their policy about holding your money for a video card that has died by no fault of yours...The kicker is its backordered for 2+ weeks so that means a month or so by alienware's time table...

This sucks because money is always tight and 400 Bucks out of your account doesnt help....

So I am out of a laptop for probably a month because I have to fork up 400 bucks from my account so they will even order the card for my computer...if I dont fork it up then They dont order it....

Would they refund the money after the card comes in? This sounds like bad customer service to me.

They refund the money after you send the bad one back but it takes just as long to refund the money as it does to get the card so my money is tied up for almost 2 months...They should send me the card and if I dont return it in 10 days then they should bill you...A warranty is really crap when they do it the way they do...

That sucks to hear that. Make sure that they do send you the card. Back order always means bad news. I've been through it recently too when I ordered my ATI 3870 GPU to replace my dead 8800M GTX.

I think alienware needs to address this problem its not a warranty if you have to fork up 400 bucks for the parts...only to wait a month to get your money back...

Sometimes they forget if you don't remind them too. Keep bugging them about it.

Yeah im going to need it...Im going to keep calling until they send me a card without charging me anything...If I dont return the card in a timely manner then they can charge me...

I want to know if this happens with alienwares new computers...

It happens to new computers. Mine was less than a year old when the two 9800gtx cards fried. I've been waiting since February for a replacement. They are sending me a 3600 quadro since the 9800gtx's are no longer available and have my 700 + dollars on hold until I send back the crappy ati cards they tried to send me without notification. I just got the return label yesterday and the money has been on hold for awhile.
The warranty isn't exactly what you would expect for such expensive laptops. And on top of all else I will be getting a good workstation graphics card, but I only use it for some 3d modelling. All other use is for games and now... I won't be able to. Their answer is .... sorry that is the best we can do.

Well Dell/Alienware has done it too me...They sent me a replacement card... it only took a month to get it...As soon as I received the card I replaced the damaged card and sent the box back the next day....Well Dell/Alienware decided to take $497.52 out of my account a month after I sent the box back to them...Their response was it took a month for them to receive the damaged card...B.S..... I can ship something from Washington state to Memphis Tenessee in two days....Then for them to take $497.52 out of my account....They said a refund was issued the same day for that amount and it would take 5-7 days for the bank to process it...

Well they took the money out on 6/03/2010 and now 6/22/2010 and no refund yet on my money...I have been patient but I think I am going to blow a fuse with them if I call them about this...
