HD Tune Pro- Threshold Reached

Hey,

So I run HD Tune all the time on my main drive and recently I noticed this.

Notice how nothing is highlighted on the page, the only reason I knew it said to replace the hard drive was because I just randomly clicked on every category.

The computer doesnt seem to be acting strangely so Im just going to keep trucking along but what do you guys think?

Think I can get away with replacing the drive or should I err on the side of caution?

You do have some pretty high temps showing up. I'd suggest using a notebook cooler if you're not already doing so. Also, make sure your computer has enough airflow around intake and exhaust vents. If neither of those affect your high temps, try opening up the computer and cleaning all the dust out.

If none of those work, then I'd agree with HD Tune and suggest you get a new hard drive.

The threshold shows 45 and the worst as 27, but the current was 63.

Its weird, most of the time it shows between 25-35 degrees and sometimes in the low 40's.

But if the threshold is 45 (is this degrees?) and the worst was 27 then how has it passed threshold?

Also, if 63 was the current temp, why isnt 63 reported in the 'worst' category?

Am I reading these numbers incorrectly? Also, what does the data stand for in the airflow category?

According to the Wikipedia article on SMART attributes, some Seagate drives report the Airflow Temperature (internal hard drive temperature) as 100 minus the temp in Celsius. While your current temp of 37° C isn't bad (hence the reading of 63, or 100-37 = 63), your worst value is 27, indicating 73° C (and confirmed by your temperature line (C2) and that IS bad. Hard drives should never get above 55° C, and that's what I would guess triggered the warning message.

Ah ok, I knew there must have been some misinterpretation on my part, I wasnt aware you had to subtract from 100.

But thanks for the explanation, Im going to back everything up and then see what happens in the near future, if the drive dies its not the end of the world.

But what does the Data column mean? How do we interpret that?
