compaq presario c500 problems... PLEASE HELP!!!

my laptops dvd drive recently wouldnt come out, wouldnt read or anything, before i realized that there was a manual eject button the drive i already had taken the drive out the remove the movie(rental one) that was there. now with it all back together, the dvd drive works but i have to still push the manual eject button, and it boots to the windows recovery screen.... any help on what to do with this thing is greatly appriciate. P.S. hp was tryin to tell me that the harddrive wasbad. but if it was bad it wouldnt do anything at all.

Have you booted with the recovery disk in?

Yes and it didn't work... I don't have originals.. I got copys from someone else.

Thats a odd problem to have,have you tried to restore you laptop back to a earlier date,maybe a driver problem,did you recently install some new software!!!!!

I haven't done anything to it. Recently discovered the disk drive was toast so hopefully when I get that fixed it will restore the software.

It won't do anything when I put the recovery disk inn... It still just goes to the windows recovery error screen.... Prolly cuz the disk drive toast...
