Aspire 7736z-4809 - Need to open case

Thread Starter
Pretty sure my power jack needs to be resoldered after the cord was tripped over. I have all the screws out of the case back, and all drives etc removed. I dont see any obvious way to separate the front/back case halves. Do I need to remove a top plate or something to get to more screws? I don't want to pry too hard on the wrong place...

Any info is appreciated.

This should help you out. Its for a 7730 model. These disassembly instruction can be found in the stickies at the top of the page. (service manuals)

Hi,

Before you disassemble your laptop for this problem, you should consider that it may the power wire connector that was damage in the accident.  That is what happened to me.  I completely took my laptop apart only to discover the female power connection is completely encased in metal and soldered to the motherboard, making servicing it impossible. At that point it occurred to me that the problem may lie in the cord.  I found a new cord and everything worked fine again. Save yourself some trouble and try replacing the power supply and connector first.  It will save you hours of headaches.
