M15x doesn't start up...

Hey,

So I was playing Dragon Age but my laptop kept shutting down with what looked like a ram failure. (This error occured mainly when gaming but also when doing not very much at all) I got the blue screen of death.

So I opened up my laptop and took the RAM out and put it back in.
(Left the battery in though...)
I also cleaned the fans while I was there.

When I tried to turn my laptop on, it turned on but there was nothing on the screen. It's not a screen failure because windows doesn't load (i.e if I leave it in that state for a long time the windows login sound doesn't occur. It just does nothing and has a blank screen.

I've inserted the recovery disc (I had to do that manually) and still no results. I've run out of ideas...

Any help would be much appreciated...

Thanks

Remove the battery, ac adapter and ram modules. Put back the ram first. Hold down the power button for 40 secs. Hook up the ac adapter (no battery) and try again. Hope it works.

Yep! I did this a few hours ago and it worked! What a relief!

Should have looked at the alienware RAM removal guide before I did it!

Thanks

Good to hear. And I would be careful next time removing anything inside the notebook with the battery "in"

cheers ...
