MIB in effect!

For anyone who's N8x series fan, below link will take you to N82JQ's excellent review by Djembe.

http://www.notebookforums.com/thread233613.html

Bombshell ASUS MIB in effect till the end of OCT 2010. For example B&H is selling ASUS N82Jq-A1 for mere $827.22 after ASUS MIB of $150 as of today. MIB ends on 31st of October so if you are on the fence about this lappy, there have never been a better time to grab the bull by the horns .

They give you one hand and take it back from the other That extra $150 would cover the (normal) 2-years warranty cost.

cheers ...

N82JV-X1 oc'd GeForce 335m

Hey guys, thought I could point you to my benchmark thread featuring oc'd N82JV-X1. I have upgraded to Seagate Momentus XT 500GB hybrid drive, and planning on doing the 1600x900 screen. After that CPU, probably i5-580m or i7-640m, whichever comes cheaper and faster . I wonder if new Intel's Sandy Bridge CPU line will be compatible with HM55 chipset...I bet you guys know the answer already. Well, get on with it

Got 1600x900 screen from HERE, and despite the perfect fit in the the lid housing and also 40 pin connector compatibility, the attempt proved not to be successful. All that I got was back lit for few seconds and low res screen in safe mode. I tried to pull battery for ten minutes, hoping that it could reset the graphics card or what not but nothing helped.saywhat.gif.
With this being said, I think that the problem is in Optimus (graphics system of N82JV). That's my personal guess though. LaptopLCD (the retailer I got the screen from) was very helpful but their rep just categorically refused to doubt the possibility of N82's compatibility with any 1600x900 screen. Regardless, they have been great and fully refunded my purchase at the very end.
Bottom line is, upgrading to 1600x900 is not for everyone and certainly did not work for me. However, ASUS made taking off the bezel and removing LCD very easy...and everything was back to rock solid after putting it together...my coin for those who are in need of LCD replacement.
Next, is CPU...I apologize to all N82 owners who were coming back here to see my progress, but sometimes life happens.
offtopic.gif just finished playing Dead Space 2 in 1900x1200 on my external monitor without a hiccup...everything on full except no antialiasing smile.gif

Finally w00t.gif got my hands on i7-640m from eBay. Well, if you're still using N82JV and planning on upgrading, you may want to look @ below pics. Even I've had a hard time believing that I ended up removing the actual motherboard in order to get to the CPU socket. I know, does seem a bit tedious but in actuality it's only about removing the screws and unplugging some connectors. To my surprise, shell comes apart very easily, and reassembly was a matter of 15 minutes saywhat.gif
I've posted updated 3DMark06 score HERE if you're interested.
Also, if you're planning on disassembling you N82JV / N82JQ and need some feedback, I will definitely do my best to help you out.
Cheers!

Hi LuckTR, I came across your post while i'm searching for the disassemble manual for my asus N82JQ. I'm planning to disassemble it as it's causing a lot of heat issues. I manage to remove all the screws on the bottom as well as those hidden screws underneath the HDD and CDROM. However, I'm having difficulties to remove the bottom cover from the laptop frame.  Which I assume it is the last steps before. While removing it from the case, I feel that there is something still holding the whole case back from the frame. Is it necessary to remove the top part before I could reach the bottom case? I would appreciate it if you are able to help me out by providing me more info on that or any additional image on the disassemble process. Thank you.

Hey, mate!

I have already moved on to a different machine but I can tell you with utmost certainty that you will not be able to take off the bottom ohmy.gif. Once you've got all the screws out you're going to be able to snap off the top, which will in turn expose your cpu, gpu and fans. It'll take no effort to remove the MB afterwards. I was stuck when I got under the keyboard where one of my screws was actually recessed below the aluminum compartment somewhere in the top right corner if I am not mistaken.

Hope you've got it already figured out by now hahano.gif. Please, let us know what was the issue to help out other users with similar hitch.

Best,
LuckTR.
