I know that the title sounds desperate (thats because it is), but i need a little help from some experts.
Background:
I currently have an Asus N80Vn that i got christmas of '08 and have loved (brutaly) ever since.
But now that its about a year old and things are falling off (and out) of it (due to my abusive use) i have begun to have buyers remorse for my family who bought the 1200$ laptop.
I am not is a huge hurry to buy a laptop but right now i happen to have money and the current Asus is still in warranty.
Present:
Right now i am looking at a better computer because i have grown worrisome about my laptop.
1) AC charger dead. It chirps, that dead. I found a nearly identical charger from a past Compaq that i currently use.
2) Random Surface damage to the case. In some places there are divits and some surface paint is missing. Allong with some weird scratches on my screen (only visible when is off)
3) Battery pack lock is missing. The sider that allows you to remove the battery is missing and currently locked into place (thankfully)
4) Gaming has gotten worse as i use it. When i first got it i could play Halo CE on full graphics with no problem, now i have everything set to low and even then it can get laggy. Dont even get me started on CoD.
5) MASSIVE overheating. I switched from Firefox (my browser for almost 5 years) to Chrome because i noticed a 10 degree drop in core heat, but now i look and its only down 5 degrees. I have cleaned it and flushed out any possible dust, but when i do any computing power you bet your ass its gona hit 75 degrees, and if i watch a movie. 85. Maximum core temp? 85*.
Future:
I would like something that fits my needs as a gamer and a student (a combo people at Computer-Juice forums just cant understand).
But i dont even know where to look! When it comes to buying things... im a total noob.
Right now i am looking at the Asus G72GX-RBBX05 from best buy for ~1000$.
But every time i look around at other places i things "Is this what i want?" "But what if there is something better? For Cheaper?"
If you could point me in the right direction of some places with good X verses Y vs Z reviews, or a specific site that have good deals on all computers, or even a specific computer, it would be of great help to my brain.
