Gateway M675 problem

Like the title says, I have a Gateway M675 with a problem.

The computer locked up and after a reboot, it fails to load the OS (XP). When trying to boot with safe mode, it fails and the blue screen with suggestions is so fast I can't see anything.

I tried to check the BIOS, but after getting the menu on startup to open the BIOS, it fails to do so.

Is this a hard drive failure or something else?

TIA for any suggestions.

Were you doing any MS updates or anything prior to the reboot.

There was a Norton Live Update that had asked to restart or gave the option of restarting later. Since I was working on some files online, I opted to restart later, but I've never had a problem doing that before.

Check this out and give it a shot. Found it on another forum:
VISTA FREEZE PROBLEM SOLVED! I don't know if this will help anyone else, but I'll give all the steps I was given and what eventually worked.

Gateway customer service asked me to do the following:

-Run windows recovery utilities in right after BIOS loads (on a gateway, it's F8 right after starting the PC). This didn't solve my problem, but may help you. Most users propobly don't know those tools exist.

-We tried rolling back to an earlier recovery point... but we couldn't get it to work.

-As mentioned before, we pulled the memory out to ensure not static charge.

-Finally (this seems to be what did the trick), we went into MSCONFIG, deactivated everything, and I read each item to Gateway tech support, who told me what to check and what not to check (basically, anything with Microsoft, Intel, or our Virus Scan/Firewall programs were allowed to remain, everything else was deactivated). It now seems to work just fine! I've got to put in a good plug for Gateway's customer support... they really did help with this.

Hope this helps someone!

Since I do see the blue screen after trying to loading Safe Mode, would this rule out the MB?
