m5500i-R3 crashes when plugged in

Alright I've been having some difficulty with my laptop and was wondering if anyone could help. My m5500i randomly one day started crashing, however it will work perfectly normally until I plug it in. If I turn it on, and don't plug it in, I can play games and use it perfectly normally, but after I plug it in the entire screen becomes pixelated and I have to leave it alone for a few moments. It is usually able to 'reset' itself where the screen will freeze, go blank, them pop back up more or less intact. However, after being plugged in, I cannot use the laptop for anything much more graphically intensive than flash games. If I do try to play a more advanced game, say World of Warcraft, my computer crashes with a blue screen and is a pain to turn back on plugged in or not.

Here is a screen shot I just remembered I took when it was going all pixel crazy at one point. I was actually really surprised that the picture was able to record the effect, maybe that is a clue.

Looks like either you've got corrupted video drivers or your graphics card is starting to go bad. Try updating your drivers and the card manufacturers web site (nvidia or ATI whoever you have). If that doesnt work, then its most likely a bad card.

i would go with the latter u running xp ? if so just try sticking a copy of windows 7 on and let it do a windows update for the drivers i had a few pink spots on one i was working with before and they went away after a 7 install but if that doesnt work then the card might be bad. what card u got in there ?

MY asumption would be that your vid card is going bad. Restricted to lower clocks on battery it runs fine but it can't keep up full throttle.

Perhaps underclocking might help, at least for some time.
