Less then 1 month old, letters on keyboard are already fading???

I've had my DV7T CTO for less then one month and the keyboard letters (on each key) are already starting to fade/rub off. This is insane! I suppose I'm going to have to do without a computer now to send this in to get it replaced instead of HP just sending me a replacement keyboard... Why do they insist on everything being sent into them? A keyboard replacement takes all of 5 minutes to do.

BTW...does anyone know where the guide/manual is online that shows how to remove/replace the keyboard? I can't seem to find it. Thanks!

If it is anything like the DV6 you need to:

. remove the battery
. within the battery housing remove the screws that hold the switch cover/power bezel
. be careful with the LED cable
. remove the (4) screws at the bottom that hold the keyboard
. flip it over and remove the keyboard.

cheers ...

How about step by step guide from HP.com? I need pics to see what I'm doing. I contacted HP today about replacing the keyboard and they want my computer for 1 1/2 weeks! I can't be without a computer that long, so I'm thinking about buying a keyboard on eBay.

So I tested out to see if I could remove the keyboard and I finally was able to figure it out but it was a close call! You also need to remove the hard drive (there is a keyboard screw underneath where the hard drive is seated) that must be removed in order to get the keyboard out. I had removed all the other screws and could not figure out why I could not get the keyboard out. After shining a flashlight underneath the keyboard I could tell there was still a screw holding it in. Matching the back side of the computer to the keyboard, I could tell it was coming from underneath the hard drive bay.

On a side note, do be careful about the ribbons that are connected from the touchpad (above the keyboard), one of the ribbons accidently popped out of the housing for the touchpad thingy and it also removed the black clip that holds the ribbon in place. I thought it had broke and it took me FOREVER to figure out how it went back in. I was sweating bullets here for a few minutes...

But thanks for the help!
